Punjab recommends 50% attendance in schools for children below 12 years



 Lahore: To contain the spread of COVID-19 amid the fifth wave of the pandemic, Punjab Education Minister Murad Ras has recommended 50% attendance in schools for students below 12 years of age.

Speaking at an event, Murad Ras said that no decision has been taken yet to shut down educational institutions in Punjab.

He said that social gatherings are increasing the spread of coronavirus in the country. Opposing the closure of schools, Punjab Education Minister said that the SOPs related to Kovid-19 are being implemented in the true sense in the educational institutions of the state. He said that most of the students have been vaccinated against coronavirus.

COVID-19 situation under control in Punjab

Speaking at the NCOC meeting held today to review the COVID-19 situation in the country and take decisions to contain the spread of the virus, Punjab Health Minister Yasmin Rashid has said that the virus situation in the province was under control.

Opposing the closure of educational institutions, he told in the meeting that 85 percent of the students in the state have been fully immunized. In addition, 57% of the total population in the province had received two doses of the vaccines, the minister said.

He urged the public to follow the SOPs to protect themselves from the virus. Yasmin Rashid said that the government is taking measures to control the Omicron version of the corona virus.
