 The five-member inquiry committee has revealed in its report that the Muri tragedy, in which 23 people lost their lives after getting stuck in their vehicles due to heavy snowfall and traffic jams, was caused by the negligence of the city administration.


According to Geo News, sources have revealed that the committee has completed its investigation and will submit its findings in the form of a draft to Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar tomorrow (Monday).


Sources said that after the completion of the investigation - which was based on interviews with the victims and administrative officials - the team has left for Lahore from Muri.

The inquiry committee prepared its report by recording the statements of the victims and more than 30 officials of various administrative departments in Murree.


The investigation revealed that on the day of the incident, several snowpacks were standing at one place, due to which the road was blocked, the administrative staff was absent from duty, while the blizzard warning from the metrological department was clearly stated. was neglected, according to sources.


On January 8, 23 people died of carbon monoxide poisoning when thousands of tourist vehicles were stuck in their cars due to heavy snowfall in Murree.


It is to be recalled that after this tragic incident, the Punjab government declared Muri as a disaster-hit area when the city received heavy snowfall.


According to the local administration of Muri, rain and blizzards were forecast around Muri, accompanied by heavy snowfall accompanied by thunderstorms with a speed of 50-90 kmph.


Besides this, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) had also on Thursday slammed the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), saying it was responsible for the tragedy.
