'The Real Deal': Aussie Jack Della Madalena stuns Joe Rogan on UFC debut

Australian Jack Della Madalena impresses with his UFC debut.

Remember the name Jack della Maddalena.

The Australian made his UFC debut on the cards for the Ngannou-Gane fight and he made an impression in his welterweight fight with Pete Rodriguez.

Della Maddalena was due to fight Varley Alves, but the Brazilian withdrew due to an undisclosed injury.

But the 25-year-old from Perth looked right at home in his first UFC bout, defeating Rodriguez via TKO inside the first round.

Della Maddalena was a square above and ended the fight with a brutal left hand over Rodriguez's head, sending him to fall to the floor and forcing the referee to stop the fight after just three minutes.

UFC commentator Joe Rogan was extremely impressed with the Australian team's ability to transition smoothly between fighting stances.

"Oh my goodness that was smooth," said Rogan.

"Della Maddalena is something special, she's really cool and she's only 25, this kid has a huge future ahead of her.

"All round you saw such intuitive, technologically striking, such amazing IQ in terms of octagonal intelligence. Very cool, this kid is good."

Della Maddalena has now won her last 11 fights in a row and says making her UFC debut didn't make her nervous.

"To be honest, I was waiting for the shocks and they never came, so as always you know," he said after the fight.

Rogan praised Della Maddalena and said that it would only be a matter of time before she was in the Octagon again.

"It was stellar," he said.

“You looked so comfortable and your ability to slide out of range of your shots and land your own counters was incredibly impressive.

"Jack, you're 25. You have an amazing future ahead of you and I can't wait to see you inside the Octagon again."

Clearly pleased with his performance, an excited Della Maddalena thought he might be a contender for the US$50,000 bonus for Best Knockout of the Night.

"That's what I like to call the '50-G spot' baby," he added
