The Oscars 2022 is garnering a lot of attention due to recent speculations about who will host the 94th annual awards.
Recent reports indicated that Saturday Night Live star, Pete Davidson is in talks with the show's producers for the program.
However, Variety confirmed that informal talks did not settle anything.
Also, the 28-year-old TV personality is the face of the famous comedy show which airs on NBC while Oscars is broadcast by ABC. Adding Davidson to the show would simply mean ABC promoting its rival.
In the meantime, it is expected that Selena Gomez and her Only Murders in the Building co-stars Martin Short and Steve Martin will make the coveted proposal as the event aims to engage a younger audience.
ABC Entertainment president Craig Erwich told the outlet that the "iconic trio" has a wider reach.
“Everyone loves them. They must be a dream. That said, we are looking at a lot of incredible talent. We are in talks with Will and the Academy about it,” he shared.
The much-awaited ceremony is scheduled to take place on Sunday, March 27.
