Bridgerton star character Chandran opened up about his experience working as a person of color in Hollywood.

In a recent interview, Chandran revealed that it was stressful for him as a person of color in the entertainment industry.

The actress, who played Edwina Sharma in season two of Bridgeton, said that most of the time "minorities are there just to tick boxes, to fill a quota".

This, he said, undermines the morale of diverse actors and forces them to see themselves as "deserving of success".

Chandran also revealed that his university peers explicitly told him that he only got the lead role in Bridgerton because "he needed a person of color".

"It makes you doubt everything. If I'm really honest and vulnerable, my head is like, 'Oh my god, if people don't like me in this or if I've done a bad thing, I've done it with all my heart'. The community is ruined, said Chandran.

Chandran also said that a person of color constantly feels an undue burden of representing the entire community.

As for the unversed, season two of Bridgerton is set to stream on Netflix starting March 25.
