Fire breaks out at UK set of 'Downton Abbey, Peaky Blinders'

Within the UK, an insatiable fire on the sets of both Downton Abbey and Peaky Blinders has largely been brought under control.

The incident has been reported and damage has been confirmed by the West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service in Dalton Mills.

Their website also issued a statement warning citizens and locals to avoid routes where the fire spread and it read, "We currently have fire engines and specialist units on fire at Dalton Mills, Keighley."

The statement at the time also said, "There is a lot of smoke in the area and residents are advised to keep doors/windows closed. Please refrain from traveling in the area."

"We have 20+ equipment in attendance at the fire at Dalton Mill in Keighley. 100% of the building is involved in the fire."

As of that moment, "hose reel jets and aerial ladder platforms in use. Equipment from neighboring brigades are also in attendance. Partner agencies in attendance - police, ambulance, Yorkshire Water and Environment Agency."

Screen Yorkshire executive Richard Knight also addressed the fire after sniffing the situation, calling it "a tragic loss to the Yorkshire filmmaking landscape".

"It's one of those wonderful places that's kind of a destination in itself," Knight also admitted to the BBC. "It's the kind of origin and scale that can captivate filmmakers from far and wide."

Photos showing the extent of the damage were later shared by Malik Walton, a local television cameraman working for PM Breaking News.
