Princess Charlene's husband, Prince Albert of Monaco, is facing increasing criticism from royal audiences
Princess Charlene's husband, Prince Albert of Monaco, is facing increasing criticism from royal audiences, who say he needs to be 'more honest' about his wife's health battle, Express UK reports .
Charlene's return to Monaco was announced on Saturday with a statement shared by People magazine saying she would "continue her recovery in the Principality with her husband and their children".
In light of the development, royal expert Brittany Barger called on Prince Albert to be more 'honest' about his wife's health battles, urging him to answer burning questions: "What was the reason she almost died? Went?"
"There are so many questions I don't know if we'll ever get an answer because of how private the princely palace is. Of course, this is going to give rise to more rumors and speculation about all kinds of different things – marriage, mental health, Barger said.
She continued: "To be honest, it would probably be best if the Princely Palace would come out and be honest and say, 'That's exactly what happened. She's getting it treated'. And then, let it go, the speculation ends. Do it."
Prince Albert himself spoke to People magazine before, sharing that Charlene "already knew that the best thing to do was to go and rest and get actual medically prepared treatment."
However, Barger thinks that "Prince Albert's discussion with People magazine gave some details, but it was still mysterious."
"They mentioned her physical and mental health, but she asked for privacy and swore it had nothing to do with their marriage. But I guess if they had been more open and came out and said what was going on, it would answer so many questions that everyone has."
Prince Albert last shared an update about Charlene on Thursday, 17 February, telling the local newspaper Monaco-Matin: "Princess Charlene is doing much better, and I hope she returns to the Principality soon." "
The comments came nearly three weeks after the last update about Princess Charlene's health said she was recovering "satisfactorily and very encouragingly" despite needing to stay at the clinic for 'several more weeks' .
In late November 2021, a source close to the Palace told AFP that Princess Charlene was receiving special treatment for extreme fatigue at a secret location outside the Principality.
Charlene also required surgery in South Africa in September after she collapsed as a result of complications resulting from ear, nose and throat infections.
